The Hurricane is one of the most famous fighters operated by the RAF (and others) during World War II. During the Battle Of Britain, the Hurricane pilots destroyed over 1,500 German aircraft. It is thought that the Cider Barn at Ad Astra Cider was used to manufacture the wings for Hurricane aircraft during WWII Sir Winston Churchill referred to the brave pilots of the Battle of Britain as “The Few”.
