Deanston Distillery is an independent Highland single malt distillery founded in 1966 in a converted 18th-century cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith near Doune, Perthshire, now owned by Burn Stewart Distillers (Distell). The distillery is powered entirely by the River Teith via its own hydro-electric turbines, producing an unpeated, honeyed, nutty Highland malt — the Virgin Oak and 12-year-old expressions are particularly celebrated — and warehousing its whisky in the vast, cool stone weaving sheds of the original mill.
