Higsons Brewery was a historic Liverpool brewing institution founded in 1780, whose Bitter and Mild were beloved fixtures of Merseyside pub culture for two centuries before the brewery was acquired by Whitbread in 1985 and production eventually ceased. The Higsons brand has since been revived, with its classic Bitter rebrewed and sold as a craft beer celebrating Liverpool's brewing heritage.
