Matugga Distillers is an independent rum distillery founded in 2020 in Dunbar, East Lothian, by Paul and Jacine Rutasikwa — Scotland's first Black-owned distillery. Inspired by the rum-making traditions of Uganda, where Paul grew up, Matugga produces a range of premium rums — including the flagship Matugga Gold Rum and Banana Rum — distilled from molasses using Scottish spring water and aged in ex-bourbon barrels, winning multiple awards at the World Rum Awards.
