Mortlach Distillery in Dufftown is one of Speyside's most revered and complex distilleries, founded in 1823 as the first legal distillery in the town. Owned by Diageo and operating a unique 2.81-times-distillation process using a combination of pot still sizes and partial triple distillation, Mortlach produces a rich, meaty, weighty single malt — nicknamed 'The Beast of Dufftown' — that has won extraordinary critical acclaim and commands premium prices.
